WBB: Hofstra wraps up Morgan State road trip

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra women’s basketball team is set to wrap up its road trip on Monday, December 6 at Morgan State. Kick off at Hill Field House in Baltimore is 7 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on Morgan State’s website, morganstatebears.com. Additionally, live audio will be provided by WRHU on the Hofstra Alternative Web Channel (HAWC), and live stats will also be available.

Hofstra recently suffered a road loss in overtime to Howard. Pride dropped 14 points in the second quarter and eventually came back and took a three-point lead, but Howard made a layup with 8.6 seconds on the clock in the fourth quarter to force overtime. In overtime, the game was tied at 62 with 9.7 seconds on the clock, but the home side won with another basket with 6.2 seconds left for the victory. Senior JaKayla Brown scored his first career double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds), while senior redshirt Jaylen hines clinched his first double-double of the season (17 points, 13 rebounds).

Brown increased his season average to 13.7 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Hines now has 11.5 points per game and a team record of 6.5 boards per game. Jaala Henri is third on the team with 7.3 rebounds per game and second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per outing.

Morgan State (4-4) comes out of a competition where he beat Navy on the road, 71-50. Dahnye Redd leads the Bears with an average of 11.3 points while Charlene Shepherd is not far behind with 10.8 points per game. Redd is also Morgan State’s rebound leader, as she is averaging 6.3 per game.

Hofstra is 1-2 against Morgan State. The teams last met in the 2019-20 season when Hofstra won at home 51-39.Sorelle Ineza shot 5 of 9 from the field for 11 points in that game while Hines had 10 points (5 of 9 FG) and nine rebounds. Prior to that, the teams met in the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons.
