How to download the Aadhaar map from the UIDAI website

Aadhaar is a 12 digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on behalf of the Government of India. Aadhar number serves as proof of identity and address anywhere in India. Now, if you have an Aadhaar card, you can download it in PDF format from the Single Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website.

According to UIDAI, an e-Aadhaar card uploaded to the UIDAI website is valid proof of identity. The Aadhaar number is free and can be used when opening a bank account, applying for a passport, booking e-tickets and many other places where it is necessary to establish an identity. It is valid for the entire life of an individual and you do not need to change or renew your Aadhaar from time to time.

Here is a step by step guide you can follow to download Aadhaar map from UIDAI website. But before you download an electronic copy of your Aadhaar, remember that it will be available as a password protected PDF file.

How to download the Aadhaar map from the UIDAI website

Follow the steps below to download the Aadhaar map from the UIDAI website.

Step 1: Visit the official website, uidai.gov.in.

2nd step: From the options offered, select ‘My Aadhaar. ‘

Step 3: From the drop-down menu, select ‘Download Aadhar.

Step 4: On the new page that appears, you must enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or you can even enter your 28-digit Registration ID (EID) as mentioned on the receipt or your 16-digit Virtual ID (VID)

Step 5: Next enter this captcha code and press “Send OTP” if you haven’t generated ‘TOTP using the m-Aadhaar app’.

Step 6: A Six digit OTP will be sent to your mobile number. The OTP will be valid for 10 minutes.

Step 7: Enter the OTP and click on “Check and download”. A PDF will be downloaded on your computer.

Step 8: This file you download is password protected. You must enter the password for file, the first four letters of your name as mentioned on the Aadhaar card that you will have to enter in capitals and your year of birth in YYYY format.

Note: For example, if your name is PUJA YADAV and you were born in 1993, your password will be PUJA1993.

Step 9: Open the PDF and enter the password, your the Aadhaar electronic card will appear on the screen.

Aadhaar is for individuals, so a number assigned to one individual should not be reassigned to another individual. Aadhaar is based on biometric and demographic data. Therefore, by following the above steps, you can easily download your e-Aadhaar card from the UIDAI website.
