Agenda Highlights

The Arlington County Board will consider and act on dozens of items at its regular council meeting on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and its recess meeting on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 3 p.m.

The meetings, held in the County Council Chambers on the third floor at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., are open to the public. Visit the county’s website for more information on speaking at a county board meeting.

Virtual participation options are publicly available through Microsoft Teams. We will seek to accommodate visitor preferences for COVID precaution, including distance; masking is also welcome depending on visitor preference. If you wish to comment during the public comment period at the start of the Regular Hearing, or on any item during the Regular Public Hearing, register in advance on the County Council’s website, where you can also find more details on public participation in virtual council meetings, or call the council office at 703-228-3130 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Online registration opens once the meeting agenda is posted, approximately one week before the meeting.

Saturday, March 19, 2022 – Regular County Council Meeting

Clarendon Area Plan Point #45. Council will consider passing a resolution to announce the Planning Commission public hearings on April 4, 2022 and the County Council on April 23, 2022, to consider the following:

(1) Adoption of Clarendon Sector Plan 2022 – Clarendon Sector Plan Update 2006

(2) Changes to General Land Use Plan Map and Booklet

(3) Arlington County Zoning Ordinance Amendments to Sections 3, 9 and 18

The Elliott at 2601 Columbia Pike, Item #44. The Board will consider adopting an ordinance to approve an application for rezoning from the commercial-community business district to service code district based on Form CP FBC Columbia Pike. The Elliott is located at 2601 Columbia Pike. In addition, Council is requested to approve the use permit in question, in accordance with the code based on the Columbia Pike form, to construct 247 multi-family dwellings and approximately 51,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor with modifications for finished floor elevation. for the ground floor and specifications, subject to conditions. If approved, the project is expected to advance the goals and objectives of the Affordable Housing Master Plan.

Tuesday, March 22, 2022 – County Council Meeting Suspended

The recessed virtual meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with the reports of the members of the board of directors and the county director.

The meeting will be broadcast live on the county’s website and YouTube, and broadcast on Arlington TV, the county’s cable channel, with live captioning, on Comcast 25 and 1085 (HD) and Verizon FiOS 39 and 40. Public hearings

No earlier than 6:30 p.m. Council will hold a public hearing and consider items from Saturday’s consent agenda. Regular public hearings will take place after consideration of the items postponed to the agenda on consent.

Arlington County Board plans to announce its appointments to the new Community Board of Supervisors (COB). The 7 voting members and 2 non-voting members will then be joined by an independent auditor to receive complaints and review the actions of Arlington law enforcement. More than 100 candidates expressed interest in a placement on the board, and selections were made after a thorough review of their qualifications, experience and goals. Board members and other stakeholders also conducted virtual interviews with the finalists ahead of the final picks.

At 2 p.m., the Board of Directors will attend an Arlington COVID-19 Memorial Event in front of the Ellen Bozman Government Center located at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. The occasion will serve to honor and remember members of the community who have been lost to COVID-19. The public is welcome, however, if you are unable or unwilling, the council encourages you to find ways to honor the memory of your family and friends who have been wrongfully swept away by the pandemic.
