Mayor Brandon Scott said summer is a time of ‘exploration’ and ‘growth’ for local youth, whether that means starting their first job, making new friends or learning life skills through programs such as Youthworks, a youth employment program.

“It is also a difficult time for many of our youth and families struggling with food insecurity and lack of opportunity,” the mayor said, adding that the Hub will connect families in need with employment opportunities and meal assistance programs.

As part of this effort, the city and its partners are providing employment opportunities, summer learning activities, summer camp spots and meal assistance. These opportunities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Approximately 3,000 spaces in summer camps operated by Baltimore City Recreation and Parks
  • More than 6,500 summer jobs thanks to Youthworks for young people aged 14 to 21
  • More than two dozen learning opportunities at Baltimore City Public Schools
  • More than 9,000 places in programs funded by the Summer Funding Collaborative
  • Expanded service through SNAP to feed thousands of local children

“Our young people deserve access to safe, affordable and engaging opportunities during the summer months,” Scott said.

Alysia Lee, President of the Baltimore Children & Youth Fund, said the organization is “honoured to invest in older young people who are often overlooked and do not have access to the enrichment of extracurricular time.”

“These young people are close to adulthood or early in their adulthood and they need to know that they still have the support of their city and its institutions,” Lee said.

Along with the new website, the mayor also promoted the launch of B’More Lit, a series of summer events held across the city that will include, among other things, live entertainment and free refreshments. The first event is scheduled for May 28.

Information hacked from the AA customer database included email addresses and website passwords.

The AA says up to hundreds of thousands of customers had their personal information compromised following a hack in August that they only recently discovered.

The incorporated company said customers who could have been affected were those using aatravel.co.nz, a now mothballed website of its AA Traveler travel insurance and accommodation booking arm, between 2003 and 2018.

The website allowed customers to make travel reservations, enter contests, participate in surveys, and receive travel newsletters.

The AA said it was alerted to a vulnerability on March 17.

“AA Traveler has enlisted the support of leading cybersecurity advisors and is working on a detailed forensic investigation,” the company said in a statement.

“While elements of this are ongoing, unfortunately it became clear that there was unauthorized access by hackers to customer information in August last year.”

It always assesses the extent of the hack.

“There was a range of data revealed and it was different for different people who used the AA Traveler site.

“We don’t have a definitive number at this point, but the number of people in different subsets ranges from thousands to hundreds of thousands of people,” he said.

Kiwis are urged not to underestimate the risk of being hacked.

The information that was stolen includes records containing people’s names, email addresses, passwords they used to access the website, and addresses and phone numbers.

The AA sent an e-mail to the persons concerned.

He warns customers that if they have used the same passwords they used to access his website to also access other online services, then they must change those passwords on those other sites.

They should also be on the lookout for phishing emails or other fraudulent communications from organizations pretending to be AA Traveler or a financial institution, he said.

He had no information about the identity of the hackers or where they might be based.

AA Traveler general manager Greig Leighton said he was deeply sorry.

“We are extremely sorry this has happened and would like to apologize to everyone involved.

“We have made sure that the data we hold is now secure and obviously an attack like this is the very last thing we would want to see happen.”

Cybersecurity expert Peter Bailey said that cybercriminals are now using

Cybersecurity expert Peter Bailey says cybercriminals are now using “AI” to personalize phishing emails to potential victims, which is easier to do the more data they have.

Pete Bailey, head of cybersecurity at consultancy Theta, said it’s not uncommon for organizations to only find out they’ve been hacked months after an attack.

The kind of personal information the AA said had been compromised was valuable to hackers who could sell it on the “dark web”, he said.

Bailey said some cybercriminals are now using artificial intelligence tools to extract information from different sources and create personalized scam emails for potential victims, making them more likely to “click” on links. malicious.

It’s proven more effective for them than “old-fashioned general emails where it’s easy to guess what’s going on,” he said.

“The more data they can get about who people are and what they like, the better they can target those emails.”

New research suggests that Russia is blocking hundreds of small websites, including a pet grooming site, a short horror story blog and a tattoo parlor’s website. This strategy is part of the Kremlin’s efforts to suppress reports of atrocities committed during its cruel invasion of Ukraine. In particular, Moscow seems to focus on any messaging that contradicts Putin’s line that his invasion of Ukraine is just a “special military operation.”

Data collected by digital rights and privacy group Top10VPN and shared with Insider showed hundreds of smaller websites being blocked by Russian propagandists.

The group discovered that many of these niche sites blocked by the Russian state contained the same section of Russian-language text trying to educate readers about the war in Ukraine.

Top10VPN reports that about 300 sites have the same war text.

All of these sites have been blocked by Russia, according to a publicly available list of blocked websites from Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

The text begins: “Russia attacked Ukraine! We Ukrainians hope you already know.

“For the sake of your children and any hope for light at the end of this hell, please finish reading our letter.”

The text directly contradicts Putin’s claim that Russia is “denazifying” Ukraine,” as well as other Kremlin propaganda messages.

Top10VPN researcher Samuel Woodhams told Insider, “While it is unclear who is responsible for spreading this message, it is evident that efforts are being made to reach Russian citizens and circumvent [Russia’s] vast apparatus of censorship.

“While these obscure websites are unlikely to have a huge reach, the numbers are strong and with so many domains affected it is likely that some will have escaped the Russian censorship apparatus.”

Sites found with this text included the Pet Grooming Site, the Horror Story Blog, and the Tattoo Parlor Site.

Mr Woodhams added that all sites even hinting at the invasion of Ukraine are blocked.

He said: “Sports websites, for example, are often blocked for interviewing a footballer talking about the conflict.”

Russia has already blocked huge mainstream websites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Top10VPN reports that 960 news domains have been blocked since the war began.

There has been an increase in demand in Russia for virtual private networks (VPNs), which can allow users to access sites blocked in their country.

The Ukrainians also hijacked Russian propaganda in various ways.

In one case, they posted Google reviews of restaurants and places with information about the invasion, before they were deactivated by Google.

In another, people around the world were encouraged to use Tinder’s passport feature to correspond with Russian citizens and then share information with them.

Builds on the efforts of the Asian American Hate Crimes Task Force

Annapolis, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced a new partnership between the Office of Immigrant Affairs and 211 Maryland to expand multilingual access to services and assistance, including reporting hate crimes and finding resources to the victims.

“This new partnership with 211 Maryland is an important collaboration in overcoming language barriers by serving all who call Maryland home and work to make great contributions to our state,” Governor Hogan said. “This will further expand our reach and resources to make it easier to report hate crimes and connect victims to services. We will continue to use all the tools at our disposal to help provide further support to those affected by these heinous crimes. »

Under the theme “Stop the Hate,” 211 Maryland now serves as an alternative channel and one-stop resource for reporting hate crimes and incidents, one of the actions Governor Hogan has launched to build on efforts of its Asian American Hate Crimes Task Force. . Reports are shared with local law enforcement in each jurisdiction. 211 Maryland also connects callers to other incident reporting services, depending on their needs.

In addition to calling 2-1-1, Marylanders can also text MDStopHate at 898211 or visit a new webpage powered by 211 Maryland, 211md.org/stophate, to file a report in multiple languages. A basic guideline on the differences between hate crimes and incidents is also available from the Office of Immigration Affairs.

“Our partnership with the Office of Immigrant Affairs is a great example of working together to support members of our community,” said 211 Maryland President and CEO Quinton Askew. “We are grateful to our call center network partners who provide access to these essential resources on a daily basis.”

211 Maryland’s multilingual capability supports more than 150 languages and is available 24/7 statewide. Resources can also be found at 211md.org, with translations available for the top 10 languages spoken in Maryland.

With this new partnership, non-English speakers can dial 2-1-1 and choose Spanish by pressing 5. For all other languages, callers simply wait for their phone to be picked up and say their preferred language in English. All callers are then connected with translators who team up with 211 trained cultural competency specialists to identify callers’ needs and help direct them to the appropriate services.

PUNE: For an institution of the size and reputation of Savitribai Phule Pune University with an annual budget of Rs500 crore, it lacks a functioning website containing all the information a student seeks.
Students, teachers, and others interested in courses find that the website is rarely updated on new courses or new phone numbers. No amount of phone calls or personal appearances elicit a concrete response from staff, and students end up walking from department to department on the 411-acre campus for information. It is the largest state university.
Student activist Kuldeep Ambekar said the university had no streamlined way to deal with grievances. For example, transcripts and other documents can be requested and obtained online. But as soon as there is a problem or a question or for whatever reason, there is a delay and there is no way to solve it, he added.
“No one picks up the phone and in the rarest of cases they do they are rude and never helpful. The exams department is another level of harassment for students. Colleges also don’t help students and even for the smallest problem that can be solved on their end, they send the students to the university, once here the students bear the brunt of rude and unhelpful staff,” Ambekar said.
A member of the Savitribai Phule Pune University Faculty Association said the problem was widespread. “All classes have their own WhatsApp groups so we can, to some extent, help. However, ideally, the student facilitation center at the main entrance of the university should be capable enough to solve all the problems that the students face so that they do not have to walk to the departments. Mobile phone numbers and website need to be updated. The easiest way would be to train students enrolled in the Earn and Learn program in the Facilitation Center to help with inquiries about new courses or how to apply,” the teacher said.
Vice Chancellor Nitin Karmalkar said that although all the information is available on the website, it may be a bit difficult for some people to access it as it is not all under one link. “I have given instructions to the team and in a few days all course related materials will be available under one link,” he said.
Regarding the communication channels between the university and the students, Karmalkar said, “I have revamped the whole communication system and given all the departments new phones and other materials. Unfortunately, you can’t change people’s mentality. We continue to ask staff to be courteous and to answer student questions, but most of the time the phones keep ringing and no one answers them.

The Finn led from the start of the three-day rally in the hills around Zagreb in his Toyota GR Yaris, only for a storm in the penultimate speed stage to wipe out his hard-earned advantage.

A reborn Ott Tänak, whose bet on softer Pirelli tires gave his Hyundai i20 N a performance advantage on the slippery asphalt, took a 1.4 second lead.

The pendulum swung back towards Rovanperä as the drier roads of the final Wolf Power Stage offered hope, but the odds remained firmly in Tänak’s favor as mud and dirt littered the final 14.09 kilometres.

Rovanperä and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen celebrate their incredible victory

Rovanperä threw caution to the wind and remarkably reversed the deficit to claim back-to-back FIA World Rally Championship victories by 4.3 seconds. Victory extended its points lead to 29 after three rounds of the 13-event season.

He had dominated the first stages of the event and was almost 90 seconds ahead before falling into the clutches of Tänak following a puncture on Saturday morning. He rebuilt his lead to half a minute until the deluge staged a jaw-dropping final.

“I was sure we couldn’t be that fast with these tyres, but it’s amazing,” smiled Rovanperä. “We pushed really hard and I think we deserved it this weekend. For sure it’s the toughest win of my career.”

It’s a disappointing result for Tänak, whose winning drought dates back to February 2021. “I didn’t take any risks but Kalle obviously had a good drive,” he said. “We are fighting for the win, but only through smart decisions and tire choices.”

Tänak was overtaken in the last kilometers

The Estonian finished 2min 16.7sec behind his teammate Thierry Neuville. The Belgian fended off Craig Breen on the final morning to clinch a podium despite a scorching weekend that would have forced many to retire.

He and his co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe were close to collapsing after pushing their car 800 meters into service on Friday after stopping with alternator problems.

Time penalties and speeding fines set them back further and they nearly gave up a podium in view of the finish after hitting an embankment and nearly rolling.

Breen survived a go-around and a spin to take fourth place in a Ford Puma. The Irishman fended off a closing Elfyn Evans, whose fifth place marked the first final point of the year for the GR Yaris rider. Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta was a distant sixth in another Yaris.

Video: Rally Croatia – Wolf Power Stage

The tricky asphalt, combined with heavy rain and fog, proved very attritional and the rest of the standings were taken up by drivers from the WRC2 support category.

Yohan Rossel finished seventh ahead of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Emil Lindholm. A poor tire choice cost Nikolay Gryazin valuable time in the closing stages and he fell two places to 10th.

The series switches to gravel for the first time in 2022 at the Vodafone Rally de Portugal. The fourth round will take place in Matosinhos from May 19-22.
